6 Easy Ways to Develop Brand Awareness

So you’ve got an awesome business that you’re ready to take to the next level. After ensuring that the product or experience you offer is unique and high quality, what’s the next step to making your brand a household (or officehold, depending on your industry) name? 


It’s time to focus on your brand awareness! Naturally, the more consumers are aware of your brand, the more potential customers you have! Social media, with its ever increasing user base, provides the perfect avenues for you to find your next customer. Many consumers spend their leisure time on social media and consult it before making a purchase, so it’s an ideal place to catch their attention. 


To build and maintain buzz around your brand’s social media presence, you need to be a consistently active participant producing shareable content. Once you’ve got those steps down, give your social channels an extra boost with giveaways, paid ads and influencer marketing.  


1) Be Active & Responsive

The first step to increasing awareness of your brand on social media is...well, to post content to social media. Social timelines move quickly; posting too infrequently or at the wrong times may leave you lost in the fray. 


Posting alone isn’t enough; you have to be social on social media. Every mention from a user is a chance for you to increase your brand awareness among that user’s followers with a response— it’s like free promo! You’ll need to interact with your audience to turn brand awareness into conversions and brand loyalty. 


Liking and sharing content that your followers post about your brand will make them feel appreciated and garner positive emotions towards your company. It’ll also make them more likely to engage with your brand again, promoting you to their network of followers.

Answering questions or complaints about your product, store or service in a timely manner will show potential customers that you are customer service oriented and provide you with valuable feedback to inform your business decisions.

Although they may not be the first thing you think of when you think of social media, reviews can provide you with important information– especially for locally oriented small and medium sized businesses. 2) Create Shareable Content

Studies have shown that Facebook posts with images receive 2.3 times more engagement than those without images. People scrolling social platforms have short attention spans— you need to work hard to catch their attention. On social media, a picture really may be worth a thousand words! Posting visually appealing photo content can motivate customers to share your post, leading potential customers back to your page. Especially as businesses reopen after Coronavirus closures, showing photos of customers enjoying your products or services can be a powerful tool to assist in the marketing of your reopening.

3) Be Consistent

As we mentioned in the first section, posting consistently will help bolster your brand’s awareness. But it’s also important that your brand voice and aesthetic are consistent.  Ensuring your brand’s content and information is consistent across social media channels will help customers recognize you when they come across your page on different platforms. Quick recognition is key to brand awareness; followers should be able to see your logo and recognize your style no matter which platform they’re on. 


4) Social Media Contests

So you’re active, you’ve got great content, and your branding is consistent, but you want to take your brand awareness to the next level. Now what? Sometimes your social media page needs a little extra marketing push to build up a follower base that will spread your content organically. There are many ways to get more followers, but one of the fastest and easiest is to give something away. 


You can promise an exciting new gadget, an especially popular product, or a gift card in exchange for sharing your post, or tagging a friend in the comments. As users share your post with their friends and followers, your brand awareness and following will increase.


5) Paid Ad Campaigns

Paid ad campaigns are another way to invest in your brand awareness and give your social pages that extra boost of followers and engagement. Ad campaigns can be targeted based on demographics, geography, interests and more, so they allow companies with a very specific target audience to market to that audience quickly and effectively.
